Resident planning

"In Summer, the World Hugs You," my proposed project, is a chapbook of poems inspired by recent news articles from Taiwanese publications, reflecting the complexity and emotional breadth of contemporary life in Taiwan, from the whimsical quotidian stories to the slightly supernatural, and from global geopolitical positioning to local concerns. The poems speak to a range of topics evoking the joys and concerns, long history and future-looking optimism, human and non-human, mundane and philosophical issues of life in Taiwan. Traditionally, chapbooks also featured woodcut illustrations, so I would be enthusiastic to collaborate with one or more local artists to potentially feature their work in the chapbook. I look forward during the residency to hosting two workshops to support and connect with other poets and writers in Taipei: "Crafting Current Events Poetry" and "Creative Writing Submission." See you there?
