Kiú-kiong

Introduction

Kiú-kiong was born in I-lan in 1996. She completed her undergraduate studies at Ankara University's Turkish Language and Literature Department, and is a graduate student at the Institute of Taiwanese Literature, National Chung Hsing University. At the end of 2019, she became enamored with Taiyu (also known as Taiwanese Southern Min) and since then has been a diehard fan of the language and its literature. She has received three creative writing grants from the Ministry of Culture, with the most recent one given for the essay “I Bury Myself in the Ground”, published by Nine Songs and shortlisted for the 2022 Openbook Goodreads Award. Currently, she is working on a Taiyu fantasy novel entitled Exterminating Objects. Every day, she practices “rabbit magic”.

Resident planning

During my one-month stay in the village, I will complete one of the short stories in Cha-bó͘ chi: A Collection of Women's Erotic Romance Stories entitled “Tsio̍h ki á tō kai tsāi lua̍h-lâng sî kiò” (Taiwanese Nightingales Should Chirp In The Summer).
