Introduction

Tang Mo, whose real name is Shu-Chuan Lin, is a monk of the Kōyasan Shingon-shū. At the age of four, he started to watch Taiwanese glove puppetry and began to study Kunqu in university. He attempts to incorporate cultural elements such as history, folklore, food, and Chinese opera as the theme of his creation. Tang’s work "Taipei’s Most Desirable Bachelors " was a finalist for the 24th Taipei Literature Award in 2022, and "Deception in the Name of Heaven" received an honorable mention in the 17th Lin Rong San Fiction Award in 2021. In 2019, he published a detective novel, "Qingzang Abbot Investigates: Injustice of Lin Tou".

Resident planning

Through arts and cultural activities, such as glove puppetry, standup comedy, and Kunqu, Tang is committed to promoting traditional Taiwanese arts and culture, and try to provide a different kind of dialogue to pass on traditional arts in difficult circumstances. As a writer, lecturer, enthusiast, and performer, Tang hopes to use this residency as an opportunity to develop a novel outline for adaptation into a film or television production, in the hope that both traditional Taiwanese art and culture and the new stand-up comedy can be better developed, and to be heard and seen by bigger audiences.
