Jürgen Eckey

Introduction

I am a teacher of Latin and Ancient Greek, Drama, German Literature and German. I taught German in Kalisz, Poland and Riga, Latvia from 2009 to 2014. A painter since 2009, I have learned how to learn by myself from the courses of the painter Sybille Hermanns. I retired in Germany in July 2019, since which time I have mainly lived in Taiwan and taught German courses for employees of the Taiwan Railway Administration. Since 2017, I have exhibited my paintings in Osnabrück, Baden-Baden, Verona, Rome, and other places. An outdoor cafe in Taipei has permanently displayed my paintings since April 2021. Furthermore, I also once taught 8th and 9th graders at the Painting Fun painting school in Douliu. The Artist's Window magazine has regularly published my works since 2017, and I won the European Art Award in Baden-Baden in 2019. I voluntarily provide drama-related links in Taiwan. In addition, I want to devote myself full-time to Taiwan's artistic creation and picture books and to serve my new homeland with my artistic experience and academic qualifications. This is my honor.

Resident planning

The residency project is called Project: A picture book, The Benzcat. (Benzcat: A creative picture book project) The theme revolves around a cat that always loves to squat by the side of an old Mercedes-Benz. In this story, I plan to use cats as the nexus to depict the lives of some residents on the street.
