Introduction
Yang Shuangzi. Yang Shuangzi’s real name is Yang Ruoci, born in 1984, a native of Wuri, Taichung and the older of twins. A creator of lily/history/popular novels, an observer of manga subculture and popular literature, and a lover of Taiwanese folklore. She has won grants for creation from the National Art Association and the Ministry of Culture and scholarships for master’s degree thesis from the Ministry of Education. Her publications include academic monographs, popular novels, comics, and fanzines. Her recent works include "Taiwan's Roaming Record", "The Blooming Season", and a co-authored novel “The Unofficial Anecdotes of A Beautiful Island: Key”. Presently, she is devoted to creating historical novels about the Japanese occupation of Taiwan.
Resident planning
She is planning to write “Lanlingtong”, a long-form historical novel with portraits of groups of characters. During this residency, she plans to work on the first stage of that project: the ideas. She will do the preparatory work necessary to start writing the novel: the concept development, character design, chapter structure, and research.
