史國良（Scott E. Simon）
- 史國良（Scott E. Simon）在印第安納大學學習東亞研究和德語，隨後搬到加拿大（他母親的國家），在蒙特婁的麥吉爾大學攻讀人類學碩士學位。之所以攻讀人類學是因為他想要旅行、與人互動交往並撰寫描述人們的生活。1996 年，他首次來到臺灣，原本要進行一年的民族誌研究，一待就停留了五年。自 2004 年以來，他在太魯閣族和賽德克族原住民地區進行研究。也在臺南、蘭嶼、金門／馬祖、關島和日本進行過田野調查。他撰寫了四本關於臺灣的民族誌，最新的一本是《真正的人：福爾摩沙原住民的身份與復興》（Truly Human: Indigeneity and Indigenous Resurgence on Formosa）。除了撰寫多物種和現象學民族誌外，他也撰寫臺灣相關學術文章、隨筆和部落格文章。除了待在臺灣的時間，他也在渥太華大學教授人類學和社會學。
- La Taiwan Literature Base a le plaisir d'inviter Scott Simon, un ethnographe canadien qui a mené des recherches dans des communautés autochtones et non autochtones à travers Taiwan et ses îles connexes depuis 1996, à être l'écrivain résident du Muse Garden pendant trois semaines en mai. Enseignant, écrivain et photographe, il vit à Taïwan depuis plus de dix ans. Nous vous invitons à nous rejoindre pour une série d'activités au cours desquelles vous pourrez engager des conversations approfondies avec l'artiste, découvrir la magie de l'ethnographie et la façon dont vous pouvez voir Taïwan avec de nouveaux yeux !
- Scott E. Simon studied East Asian Studies and German at Indiana University, before moving to Canada (his mother's country) to do graduate studies in Anthropology at McGill University, Montréal. He chose anthropology because he wanted to travel, hang out with people, and write about their lives. In 1996, he came to Taiwan for the first time to do one year of ethnographic research, but ultimately stayed five years. Since 2004, he has done research in Truku and Seediq Indigenous communities. He has also done fieldwork in Tainan, on Orchid Island, Kinmen / Matsu, Guam, and Japan. He has written four book-length ethnographies about Taiwan, the most recent being "Truly Human: Indigeneity and Indigenous Resurgence on Formosa." In addition to writing multi-species and phenomenological ethnography, he also writes academic articles, essays and blogs about Taiwan. When he is not in Taiwan, he teaches anthropology and sociology at the University of Ottawa.

本場講座中，作家將分享他所撰寫的兩本書，並以一本關於亞馬遜生活的華文書籍為例，介紹「民族誌」這種文學類型。參與者將與作家交流，深入探究民族誌田野調查的過程，同時也將討論如何運用文學技巧，鮮活地描繪人們的生活百態。
La magie de l'ethnographie est une introduction au genre littéraire de l'ethnographie. L'auteur présentera ses deux propres livres, ainsi qu'un autre exemple en chinois sur la vie en Amazonie. Nous aurons l'occasion de discuter avec l'auteur de la recherche ethnographique sur le terrain, mais aussi des techniques littéraires nécessaires pour donner vie aux mondes-vécus d'autres êtres humains.
The magic of ethnography is an introduction to the literary genre of the ethnography. The author will introduce his own two books, as well as another example in Chinese about life in the Amazon. We will have an opportunity to discuss with the author ethnographic field research, but also the literary techniques needed to bring to life the life-worlds of other human beings.

現象學既是一個哲學學派的名稱，同時也是一種受該哲學啟發的民族誌研究方法。有別於試圖以客觀態度研究文化多樣性的傳統文化人類學，作為研究方法，現象學將藉由移動來認識世界，留意身體的感受，並格外關注此刻發生在你我周遭的種種。而其目標，則是反思生而為人的意義，並讓世界的奇蹟主動揭示在觀察者面前。
La phénoménologie est le nom d'une école philosophique, mais c'est aussi une méthode de recherche sur le travail inspirée de cette philosophie. L'objectif est d'apprendre à connaître le monde en s'y déplaçant, en prêtant attention au corps et à ses sensations, mais surtout en prêtant attention au monde vivant qui nous entoure. Cette démarche s'écarte des normes de l'anthropologie culturelle, qui tente d'étudier objectivement la diversité culturelle. L'objectif est plutôt de réfléchir à ce que signifie être humain et de permettre aux merveilles du monde de se révéler à l'observateur.
Phenomenology is the name of a philosophical school, but it is also a method of doing ethnographic fieldwork inspired by this philosophy. The goal is to learn about the world by moving through it, by paying attention to the body and its sensation, but most of all paying attention to the living world around us. This is a departure from the norms of cultural anthropology, which tries to objectively study cultural diversity. The goal is instead to reflect on what it means to be human, and to allow the wonders of the world to reveal themselves to the observer.

當我們試圖一窺「人以外的」生命世界，這種「多物種民族誌」將面臨一些挑戰──追蹤鳥類可說是一門藝術，追蹤者得在不驚擾牠們的前提下關注牠們的生態，並從牠們的視角去想像這個世界。縱使相機和望遠鏡十分可靠，但同理心與創造力才是追蹤者最重要的配備。作家將以一些相片為例，邀請參與者一同想像，從周遭鳥類的視角來觀察臺北的景色。
Le défi de l'ethnographie multi-espèces est de capturer les mondes de vie des êtres non-humains. C'est un art de traquer les oiseaux, d'être attentif à leur vie sans les effrayer et d'imaginer le monde de leur point de vue. Les appareils photo et les jumelles sont des outils utiles, mais nous avons surtout besoin d'empathie et de créativité. Je vous montrerai quelques exemples à l'aide de photos. Je vous demanderai également d'imaginer le monde du point de vue des oiseaux qui nous entourent à Taipei.
The challenge of multi-species ethnography is capturing the life-worlds of non-human beings. It is an art to track down the birds, pay attention to their lives without frightening, and imagine the world from their perspectives. Cameras and binoculars are useful tools, but most of all we need empathy and creativity. I will show some examples with photos. I will also ask you to imagine the world from the perspective of the birds around us in Taipei.
